  • Some FullText, Citations
    • CINAHL
      The Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health (CINAHL) database provides authoritative coverage of the literature related to nursing and allied health. Virtually all English-language publications are indexed along with the publications of the American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing. Most records in CINAHL proper are just citations with abstracts, but there are a few full text articles here as well. Provided by ELM: Electronic Library for Minnesota.
    • Cochrane Reviews
      Database with free access to the abstracts and the plain language summaries of all Cochrane systematic reviews. For access to the full text, use Cochrane Library.
    • Nursing & Allied Health Sciences: SAGE
      Nursing & Health Sciences: A SAGE Full-Text Collection includes the full text of 26 journals published by SAGE and participating societies, some journals going back 23 years, encompassing over 7,000 articles. It covers such subjects as nursing, social studies of health, nursing research, health services & administration, community / public health nursing, qualitative research, cultural studies, child psychiatry, transcultural psychiatry, adult health nursing, public health, public policy & public administration, health psychology, aging and gerontology, health communication, family studies, physiology, physical medicine & rehabilitation, pediatrics, holistic nursing, nursing theory, pediatric nursing, autism, mental disorders & learning disability, health education & health promotion, clinical psychology, developmental psychology, psychopathology, health evaluation, research methods & evaluation, dementia, and sociology of the family.
    • PubMed
      PubMed is a service of the National Library of Medicine that includes over 16 million citations from scientific journals in medicine and the life sciences as far back as the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources. Primarily medical research, strong in biology, chemistry, and neuroscience. To find the full text or request through interlibrary loan, use the "Find it! at WSU" button located along with the article's abstract.
      • PubMed MeSH Tutorial
        A WSU guide to how to seach for Medical Subject Headings in the PubMed database. NOTE: PubMed changed its interface in October of 2009. To search MeSH as shown in this tutorial, on the initial page where it says: "Search: PubMed," use the dropdown menu to change "PubMed" to "MeSH".

    • Alt Health Watch
      This database focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It offers libraries full text articles for more than 180 international, and often peer-reviewed journals and reports. In addition, there are hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts. Alt HealthWatch provides in-depth coverage across the full spectrum of subject areas covered by complementary and alternative medicine. This database features indexing and abstracts going back as far as 1984, and full text going back as far as 1990. Provided by ELM: Electronic Library for Minnesota.

      The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases that contain high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making.
    • Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition
      This database provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names. Provided by ELM: Electronic Library for Minnesota.
    • Nursing Collection@OVID
      Full-text of 48 core nursing journals, from 1995 to the present. Provided by ELM: Electronic Library for Minnesota Access limited to 17 simultaneous users among 15 schools

  • Abstracts in Social Gerontology
    Abstracts in Social Gerontology includes bibliographic records covering essential areas related to social gerontology, including the psychology of aging, elder abuse, society and the elderly, and other areas of key relevance to the discipline.
  • Academic Search Premier
    Broad database with both Academic and general periodicals articles. Many fulltext, though some citation only. Provided by Electronic Library for Minnesota.
  • FirstSearch Complete
    Over 60 different databases available covering all areas of study. Includes: Dissertation Abstracts International, and others.
  • JSTOR
    JSTOR allows Winona State full-text access to back issues over one hundred core scholarly journals, across a variety of disciplines. In the case of some journals, the run of back issues extends back to the 19th-Century. To prevent publishers from losing revenue, JSTOR uses what is called a "moving wall," which means it will always maintain a 2 to 5 year gap from its most recent holding to the present. It is possible to search JSTOR holdings, or to simply browse the journals by subject area.
  • PsycArticles
    Database containing more than 25,000 searchable full-text articles from 42 journals published by APA and allied organizations from 1988 to the present, with earlier years in production.
  • PsycInfo
    PsycINFO provides access to international literature in psychology and related disciplines. Has articles on Neurology.
  • ScienceDirect
    This database has all scholarly articles, mostly from sciences, though some social sciences. Citations from 1980 to present. Some full text starting in 1993, more full text from 1997 to the present.
  • WorldCat
    The combined catalog from over 9,000 libraries, including the Library of Congress through FirstSearch.

  • Consumer Health Complete
    Consumer Health Complete (CHC) is the single most comprehensive resource for consumer-oriented health content. It is designed to support patients' information needs and foster an overall understanding of health-related topics. CHC provides content covering all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated medicine. Provided by ELM: Electronic Library for Minnesota.
  • Health Source: Consumer Edition
    This database is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide, providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source: Consumer Edition provides access to nearly 80 full text, consumer health magazines. Provided by ELM: Electronic Library for Minnesota.
