Scholarly Comprehensive, Citations
  • GeoRef
Thorough index to references in the Geosciences, through Cambridge Scientific Abstracts. (to limit your search to only GeoScience World, click on 'specific databases')
Scholarly, FullText
  • ScienceDirect
This database has all scholarly articles, mostly from sciences, though some social sciences. Citations from 1980 to present. Some full text starting in 1993, more full text from 1997 to the present.
Other Databases that may have some items in Geosciences
  • US Geological Survey Publication Search (USGS)
This database allows you to get citations to USGS publications. The WSU library has a depository collection of USGS materials, but most of them are uncataloged, so this is the most effective way to search for items in our own collection.
  • Academic Search Premier
Broad database with both Academic and general periodicals articles. Many fulltext, though some citation only. Provided by Electronic Library for Minnesota.
  • Chimica via Engineering Village
Included in Engineering Village are Chimica, a bibliographic database to scholarly Chemistry journals, and Chemical Business NewsBase: *Chimica: Covers 600 chemistry journals from 1998 to the present *Chemical Business NewsBase: Leading chemical business news
  • Google Scholar
The Google search engine focused on scholarly content. Powerful fulltext searching, but sometimes the results found are not full text unless a fee is paid. This link goes through the WSU Library Proxy server to give patrons the link to WSU's "Find it!" button.
  • Materials Research Database with METADEX
A suite of databases from ProQuest (formerly Cambridge Scientific) relating to materials science and engineering. Sources covered include over 3,000 periodicals, conference proceedings, technical reports, etc. Strong in metallurgy and composite engineering.
  • WorldCat
The combined catalog from over 72,000 libraries, including the Library of Congress through FirstSearch.
